In the United States of America, a Sheriff is the top law enforcement officer of his individual county or parish. He is an elected official, and is considered both an American tradition, and an icon. Historically, sheriffs have been the commander of the county or parish’s militia, and an Oath Keeper. An Oath Keeper takes his oath of office seriously, and he feels honorably obligated by discerning words spoken over his bible to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States from all enemies both domestic and foreign.
As of the 2008 census, there were 3,085 sheriff’s offices and departments in the United States, with an average of 25 officers each. This is a formidable group of men, and they are increasingly standing up to the overbearing Progressive mandates that destroy Liberty.
Richard Mack first took a stand against Clinton’s Brady bill with litigation against the Federal Government called Printz v. United States, and won.
He is recorded to have said: “Soon [after my reelection as Graham County Sheriff in Arizona in 1992] the Brady bill was signed into law by Bill Clinton. Three federal agents showed up at our AZ Sheriffs Association meeting and handed each of us a document from the Department of the Treasury which detailed what our “orders” were to comply with the Brady Bill.
All the sheriffs were shocked and against it. However, each sheriff said there was nothing we could do about it. “You can’t fight city hall” was the frequent comment.
I disagreed and decided to sue my own government. Everybody said I was crazy and that I could not win. Six other sheriffs from various parts of the USA joined the lawsuit. The case went all the way to the U S Supreme Court and miracle of miracles, WE WON!”
Recently, Sheriff John D’Agostini of El Dorado County, California, stripped the U.S. Forest Service of their law enforcement powers, and it seems to have set another precedent.
In a letter, D’Agostini wrote: “I take the service that we provide to the citizens of El Dorado County and visitors to El Dorado County very seriously, and the style and manner of service we provide. The U.S. Forest Service, after many attempts and [having been] given many opportunities, has failed to meet that standard.”
It wasn’t the first time Sheriff D’Agostini challenged the Federal Government. Back in January, when the Senate considered restricting gun ownership, Sheriff D’Agostini wrote a powerful and pointed letter to Vice President Joe Biden. He stated: “The purpose of this letter is to go on record of re-affirming my oath of office and making it clear that I and my staff will never violate [our oath of office] by being pressured into enforcing any unconstitutional provision, law or executive order.
It is well-known and proven with facts… that gun control of any kind has no effect on the reduction of crime anywhere.
Don’t pass any laws where you are going to confiscate firearms and turn law-abiding citizens into criminals.”
Many in the Liberty movement consider Sheriff Mack and Sheriff D’Agostini primary examples of patriots drawing the line on Progressive influences and indulgences that taint our Civil Liberty. It seems a shot in the arm for those who want our Constitution back, those who want to bury forever the NDAA and the Patriot Act. We must realize, however, the true power and scope of the Federal Government, as it has a history of superseding state rights all the way back to the Civil War and the 14th Amendment.
One primary example in my lifetime were the 10,000 Arkansas guardsmen and 1,000 of the 101st Airborne Division who came under the direct command of Eisenhower by a Federal Court Order in 1957. In that Little Rock integration case, both the Governor and the state’s Sheriffs were bypassed, and all opposition ignored.
Know this, many of us have taken an oath to uphold the American Constitution, and no pressure from any external source, including traitors in the ranks of our military or in the folds of an American shadow government will change that. If a Sheriff stands firm to protect his oath, so will I stand shoulder to shoulder with him. I am obligated by my oath and honor to stop any man who steps on my American Constitution, and by whatever means necessary. That person, and/or that rogue government would be considered my mortal enemy.
Am I afraid? You bet, and we all are, but I, for one, fear living under the yoke of tyranny far more. My life is inconsequential in comparison to the ideals America once stood for, and I want them back. What we all do has consequence, and so too will justice come to those who seek to destroy my country.
I have always advocated, and from my very first writings twenty years past, that this Revolution is one of intellect, inspired by truth. But when those in power vie to spy on me, threaten me with an IRS boot to be silent, and then tax and spend and print us into debt slavery, my life no longer belongs to me, but entirely to the Liberty movement. And it is long past the point of tolerating you… it is no longer enough for you to withdraw like roaches into the shadows, waiting for another opportunity. I want you out of my country, and out of my life forever, and nothing gives a patriot more courage than knowing he is righteous in his cause. And as it is said one candle will curse the darkness, so too will truth set us free from you, the master of lies and deceit… and I know you dread this in your dark heart, a heart whose beats are numbered. Numbered in a world whose liberty is not granted by you, but by God.
“I hope we shall crush in its birth the aristocracy of our moneyed corporations which dare already to challenge our government to a trial by strength, and bid defiance to the laws of our country.” -Thomas Jefferson.
